9362 words

So it's not the same book that I was working on before, but my current work in progress is at 9362 words! I've got three chapters written so far and I'm super excited. I'm taking this one a little slow, as to not burn out on it like I have the others. I really really really want to finish this one.

I hope to have it completed by the end of tax season, do we'll see :)

Almost done with Chapter 1!!

I am so excited! I have been writing for the last few hours, and I'm almost done with Chapter 1 of my first book! Still working on a title, but I can always pick something out later. I originally deleted my first chapter this evening, not very interested in what I had written up to that point, and I am extremely happy that I did. I've got three solid characters, and the story line is moving along a lot better than what I had originally written.

So far, I've got Kalida (who will be the main character), as well as Nichole and Briana (names subject to change, since these character's are based on two of my friends... who's actual names are Nichole and Briana). I'm writing it in third person, and have done fairly well so far with not mixing up past tense and present tense. I usually have trouble with keeping those separated.

Anyways, things are going fairly well, and hopefully I'll have Chapter 1 done tonight and ready for edits/proofing tomorrow :)

Review: Across the Hall by NM Facile

To begin with, I really liked the description of the book itself. Two neighbors who, as the reader, you slowly learn are naturally meant to be together even under bad circumstances makes a good storyline. I picked this book up thinking it would be a good break from my post apocalyptic and dystopian YA novels. I was not disappointed. I will start out and say that I will try not to leak any spoilers, but I can't guarantee it.

The book itself is told from two characters point of view. First we start with Sylvia, who is single and in her twenties. After a few sections from her point of view, Quinn is brought in, who is also single and in his twenties. Throughout the book, most situations will be from Sylvia's POV, followed by a recap from Quinn's perspective. Luckily when one of the characters is replaying the same scene its a brief overview and focuses more on tidbits such as something the previous character missed or wasn't in the same room when a realization was made rather than detailing the same scene again.

I'd also like to state that I was surprised to find that this is a smutt novel. Yes, I've read much more explicit novels in the past but this one can still get you sweating thinking, "Oh baby!" I'd rate the novel at least a PG13, not quite rated R simply because I have read much worse (in which case, I mean so very good).

One last final note, I will mention at one point in the story I thought to myself that I could see myself in Sylvia. Definitely not in the Twilight/Bella shell of a character written for any girl under the age of 18 who hasn't discovered herself yet. I honestly saw personality traits of my own reflected back to me. I think that's why I may have enjoyed the book so much... I was able to see an actual person in Sylvia's character to the point where I didn't always agree with her actions 100%, although I consented that anyone with the personality she was written with would have done the same. It made it all the better.

So if you like a little smutt (okay so more like fifty/fifty) with a good feel it in your bones romance, then you should look into this book.

As for those of you not interested in the nitty-gritty of love and romance, I'll hopefully be adding another review shortly of one of my post apocalyptic survival novels.

Until next time, have fun and live life like a butterfly :)

Dear deity, hear my prayers...

So I'm having an insane urge to write right now! But unfortunately my laptop is unavailable and I can't find a pen. I've been debating just typing it up on my cell, but I get a hand cramp just from writing small posts such as this. I can only pray to whichever deity that holds my inspiration will take me in kind and let the creative thinking start flowing again when I'm back in commission.

On another note, my actual day job has picked up again and I'm back at full working hours. On top of that, I've decided to go back to school and get a business degree! Even though its only part time and work is in full swing, I'm hoping I can turn out my first book this decade. Maybe I can get the first draft done before the end of this year... I wonder which deity can help me with that?

Until next time, have fun and live life like a butterfly :)

The beginning

So I have finally started a blog, it only took me two years since I said I would. What I hope to do with this blog is post numerous reviews of books and music, as well as post about the stuff I'm creating as well. I'll also post random tidbits here and there about life in general, but at least you now know what the main content will feature. I'll eventually also link this to my writing.com account once I post more work in my portfolio.

Until next time, have fun and enjoy life like a butterfly :)
